About Te Pera Mahi Oranga Social Services
Te Pera Mahi Oranga Social Services is a safe, culturally grounded place where whānau are supported with dignity, compassion, and kaupapa māori values to rebuild their lives and reclaim their mana. We walk with whānau, not ahead of them, healing begins with feeling safe.

Our values in action
When Hana came to Te Pera Mahi Oranga transitional housing, she was exhausted, moving from place to place, unsure where to turn, carrying the weight of stress and isolation.
From the moment she walked through our doors, she felt something different. Our team welcomed her with warmth, listened without judgment, and wrapped support around her and her tamariki. Through kaitiakitanga, we protected her journey and helped her see her own potential again. Through ahurutanga, we gave her a safe, calm space to breathe, rest and rebuild.
Over time, Hana secured stable housing and learned new skills. Most importantly, she rediscovered her mana, her voice, and her hope.
Today, she stands stronger, not because we fixed her life, but because we walked beside her until she could take the next step herself.
This is the difference our values make.

What makes us different
Te Pera Mahi Oranga stands out because we combine cultural wisdom, local knowledge, and deep aroha to tautoko (support) whānau rebuild their futures with strength and dignity. Our Kaupapa Maori-led approach ensures that our services are culturally appropriate and responsive to the unique needs of each whānau we support.
